Hongera Energy Efficient Cookstoves Project
Energy-efficient cookstoves for 85,000 households in the Mount Kenya and Aberdare regions — less firewood, less smoke, better for health, forests and the climate.
About this project
The Hongera Energy Efficient Cookstoves Project provides households in the Mount Kenya and Aberdare regions with energy-efficient cookstoves. These use considerably less wood than cooking on an open fire, so fewer trees are felled, less CO₂ is emitted and indoor smoke is greatly reduced — with direct health benefits for families, especially women and children.
The cookstoves are produced locally. The project also includes education and skills training for the participating communities. The project developer is DGB Group. Green QR Code buys carbon credits from this project.
